How is this calculated?
All math runs in your browser. Start from Naismith's Rule, then layer rest, hydration and food on top.
moving = (distance/speed + climb/300 × 30min + descent/300 × 10min) × terrain
rest = moving_hours × (rest_min_per_hour / 60) · total = moving + rest
arrival = start_time + total
Water: base 400 ml/h + 30 ml/h for every °C above 15°C (assumed 20°C) + 10 ml/h per 5 kg of pack over 5 kg, × intensity factor (Easy 1.0 / Moderate 1.25 / Strenuous 1.5); clamp 250–1500 ml/h; +500 ml / day camp water. Water-scarce routes multiply the day's carrying water by 1.3 and flag resupply.
Food: default 3000 kcal / person / day (editable), converted to weight at 450 kcal per 100 g of trail food — about 0.7–1.0 kg / person / day.
