AMS Checker — Lake Louise Score
Assess Acute Mountain Sickness with the standardized Lake Louise Questionnaire. Rate your five symptoms, enter your sleeping altitude and today's ascent, and get a clear verdict.
Score your altitude symptoms
Rate each symptom 0 (none) to 3 (severe). Headache is the key AMS symptom. Try the worked example first.

How is this calculated?
The Lake Louise Score (LLS) sums five self-rated symptoms (headache, GI, fatigue, dizziness, sleep), each 0–3 (max 15). AMS is diagnosed when headache is present (≥1) AND the total score is ≥3. Independent of symptoms, an ascent above 2500 m with a daily sleeping-altitude gain over 500 m triggers an ascent-rate warning (climbing too fast).
total = headache + GI + fatigue + dizziness + sleep · AMS = (headache≥1) AND (total≥3)
